Lamplight Crochet Tutorial: Winter Icicle Decor
It's time to make winter decor. Nothing reflects winter like icicles, but most of the time I would rather admire them from the inside rather than the outisde. Follow along on my youtube tutorial found on Lamplight Crochet to make 1 icicle or a number of icicles.
A garland of them would be beautiful to hang in the home. These are made from Red Heart Yarn medium weight in white and crocheted with an H - 5.00 mm hook. You will need about 3 inches of jewelry wire to string your glistening beads onto the tip of your icicle. Grab some scissors and a yarn needle and you're set. Enjoy!

Ch = Chain
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Dc = Double Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Sc = Single Crochet
Supplies
Needed:
H hook 5mm
Worsted Weight Yarn: 3 - 4 yards of White
2-3 Beads
Jewelry Wire: About 6 inches.
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Directions:
Ch 25
Do I Dc in 2nd chain from hook.
Do 2 Dc in each chain over the next 19 chain.
With 5 chain remaining on the hook.
Do 2 Hdc in each of next 2 chains. Do 2 Sc in each of next
2 chains. In the last chain do 1 Sl St. Remove hook. Pull yarn on through and
tie off.
Twist the icicle in the direction of the curl from top to
bottom to make a neat spiral.
Attach
the beads:
Place the middle portion of the jewelry wire around the
yarn that will be strung through the beads. Pinch to close the wire from top to
bottom. Turn the wire upside down to use the tail end of the wire as a needle
to thread the yarn through the bead. Make sure the wire is pinched to form one
piece to use as a needle.
Place the end of the wire through the bead and string the
bead onto the yarn pushing the bead up to the bottom of the icicle. String 1 or
2 more beads.
Cut the yarn and tie a knot to hold the beads on. Weave the
beginning tail with the yarn needle into the end of icicle where it’s unseen
and cut.
Use remaining yarn to make a hanging loop and tie to the
top of the icicle.
You can make many icicles to hang on a tree or to decorate
a garland!
