Supplies
Needed:
You will need an H 5.00 mm hook and medium worsted
weight yarn in your choice of colors. Little bit of polyester stuffing, a yarn
needle, and a sharp pair of scissors. I used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn. Gauge
= NA.
Lovey
Blanket Granny Square:
With white: Ch 4. Join to first ch with sl st.
Ch 3 (counts as first Dc in every round). Do 2 Dc in circle. ch 2. *Do 3 Dc in
circle ch 2. Repeat from (*) 2 more ti. **Join to first ch 3 w/ sl st. (4 sets
of 3 Dc made). Sl st in top of next 2 Dc. Sl st into ch 2 sp. Ch 3. Do 2 Dc ch
1 (opt. ch2 in corners if prefer). Do 3 more Dc. ch 2. *Make 3DC in next ch sp.
Ch 1. Make 3 more Dc. Repeat from (*) 3 more times in corners. Join in top of
ch 3 with sl st. Repeat from ** until there are 10 rounds for a lovey blanket.
Finish off. Weave in ends.
Foundation
Row: Attach color for
foundation row for border ruffle. Ch 5. Sk to the next open ch 2 space and do I
sc. Repeat around the bottom of the lovey. Join w/ sl st to base of join.
Shell
Ruffle: With same color as
foundation row. Sl st into first 5 ch loop. Ch 2. * Do 1 Hdc, 2 Dc, 1 Hdc, 1Sc
(1 shell made). Sl st into sc of previous row. Ch 2. Inside next ch5 loop
repeat shell pattern from *.. St st into sc of previous round. Repeat around.
Octopus Head:
Rnd 1: Make a magic Circle. Ch1.
Rnd 2: 6 Sc inside magic circle. Join w sl st. Pull tail
tight.
Rnd 3: Begin in ch 1 sp. Ch 2 in each st around (12 sc)
Rnd 4: Begin in ch 1 sp. *1 sc. Next st. 2 sc. Repeat
from * around. Join w/ Sl st. Ch 1. (18 sc)
Rnds 5-7: Begin in
ch 1 sp. *1 sc. Next st. 1 sc, next st 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join w/ sl
st. Ch 1 (24 sc)
Rnd 8: Decrease row. Beginning in 1st sc to let of ch 1 sp, draw
yarn up with hook, place hook in next st and draw yarn up. Wrap yarn over hook
and draw through loops. I sc Decrease (dec) made. Do 1 sc in next stitch. *Do 1
sc dec, 1 sc. Repeat from * around the head. Join w sl st. (15 sc)
Rnd 9 and 10: Do I sc in ea. sc around Join w slst. (15
sc). Sew 2 black eyes on now at
about row 7 and about 1 inch apart. Stuff the head. Rnd 11: *Do 1 sc dec, 1 sc.
Repeat from * around the head. Join w sl st. (10 sc). Close head up with
sl stitches or sew together with yarn needle and attach to the middle of lovey
blanket.
Octopus Legs: With same color as head Ch 2. Make 2 sc in 2nd chain from
hook. Make 3 sc in each chain to end. Make 8. Curl the legs in one direction
and sew all from beginning of chain underneath the neck of octopus. Check out
